On Saturday 42 new cases of infection were registered in Stjørdal. It represents a fifth of all infection cases in the municipality so far, in one day.
The municipality has published the latest figures on its website. This is the highest number of new infected registered in the municipality, according to the summary to VG.
– We have just received a large number of positive test results that we want to communicate, the municipality writes in a press release. They describe the situation as “a new negative event.”
The municipality has so far registered 197 cases of infection since March. This means that around a fifth of all infection cases in the municipality have been registered in the last 24 hours. The infection in the municipality currently has a strongly increasing trend.

– When we passed 40 cases of infection in one day, we have destroyed what we could imagine of the spread of the infection, says the municipal chief doctor Leif Edvard Muruvik Vonen in the Værnes region to VG.
– We have only found single-digit daily infection figures since March. We introduce stricter measures in the Christmas space, but we have not managed to avoid the peak we have now, he adds.
According to the municipal superintendent, they have tracked “quite a number of parties” with young adults during Christmas.

Announces new measures, also Trondheim

In Stjørdal, the situation means they have to start infection detection again.
– Approximately half are hitherto unknown names to us, which means that much of the infection tracking must be started from scratch. The other half are already in quarantine, writes the municipality of Stjørdal.
Therefore, the municipality will present new, stricter measures at a press conference on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The municipality of Trondheim also warns on Saturday that the measures will be stricter, if the trend is not reversed. On Friday 50 new cases were registered in the city.

Christmas canceled in space
The mayor of Stjørdal, Ivar Vigdenes, canceled Christmas on the 4th of Christmas. This meant that the stjordalers could not have contact with people outside their home.
