It has been almost a year since 25-year-old Erik Rotihaug was able to unleash jubilation as the new winner of “Farmen.” At that point, he beat participant Ingebjørg Monique Haram at the finish line and got away with a car and a cockpit.
After the victory, he told Dagbladet that he wasn’t sure what to do with the award, but that he should keep the car to come and go.
Now, however, Rotihaug can tell that both the car and the cabin have been sold.
– It was the best for me financially now. I’m not that old, he tells Dagbladet, continuing:
– I had planned to build the cabin, but I sold it a couple of weeks ago. If I had kept the car, it would have had to be four-wheel drive, she jokes.
The money he has received from sales has been invested “a little here and there,” he says.
– He won’t call me a celebrity
Erik Rotihaug can also say that the winner of “Farmen” has brought with him a number of requests, especially for cooperation, but that the right offer has not yet reached the field. On the other hand, he hopes to one day participate in “Skal vi danse”.
Already from the start of his stay at the farm last year, the 25-year-old was determined to be victorious, and in the previous time he had spent many hours of practice on possible tasks to come to the farm.
The duo “Farm” was created
full of confusion
A loss Rotihaug thought he would take very seriously.
– Later the psychologist, with whom we all spoke, told me that she did not know how she would face the great fall if she had not won. I came in so hard that I didn’t think of anything other than winning, he said when Dagbladet met him at home in 2019.
– Difficult to see yourself
Immediately after the victory, he recounted how broken he was both physically and mentally.
However, two months after the filming ended, he was back in good shape, although his body was not exactly where it was before the stay began.
– I lost twelve kilos. It’s a lot and it’s mostly muscle mass. It was difficult to see myself in the mirror when I came out, to see how tired I was and how my body had changed. It was very special, he said.
The “celebrity” label Rotihaug, who works as a septic tank on a daily basis, still didn’t want to.
– I don’t want to call myself a celebrity. It is a type of role that I feel, that is very wrong. You are on a reality show and a celebrity is someone who has been in the spotlight for many years, who people know a lot. No one who passed fast, he said firmly.
When we talk to him today, he can say that everyday life is quite normal again after participation in television.
