She was the company’s first female platform manager and leads the company in Brazil. Executive Vice President Margareth Øvrum has decided to retire.

In an internal report at Equinor, Margareth Øvrum, Brazil’s Executive Vice President of Development and Production, is said Tuesday to have informed the CEO that she is retiring.
With 39 years at Statoil and then at Equinor, Øvrum has been there almost as long as CEO Eldar Sætre. He also recently announced that he will be retiring after 40 years with the company.
Øvrum will work at Equinor for the rest of the year. She will change the office location from Rio to Bergen starting October 1, according to the internal message. Later, Leticia Andrade will assume the position of national manager in Brazil and will report to Øvrum.

Over 39 years at Equinor, Øvrum has held several prominent positions. She became a platform manager at Gullfaks and is therefore the company’s first female platform manager. Since 2004, she has been in the group’s administration, first as executive vice president of health, environment and safety, then technology and new energy, then technology, projects and drilling, before ending up leading Development and Production Brazil.
In the internal message, Øvrum receives praise from the CEO.
– I would like to take this opportunity to thank Margareth for her long-term contribution to leadership in the group and as a member of the group leadership at Equinor. She was a pioneer for women in this company and guided the careers of many of our best talents. She was the first female platform manager at Gullfaks. She was one of the first women to become a member of the group’s leadership. Thanks to her long experience and extensive knowledge of Equinor, she was able to contribute to the progress of the company for many years. We will miss her deeply when she leaves the company on January 1, 2021. I wish her luck as a pensioner, says Sætre.
