The government is now giving new advice to stop the infection at home. Such are the new measures.

– A significant proportion of the infection occurs among those who live together. Therefore, the Norwegian Health Directorate and the National Institute of Public Health have recommended three measures to prevent further spread of the infection. The government has followed the recommendations, which came into effect on Friday, October 30, says Health and Care Services Minister Bent Høie.

Here are the new measurements:

  • Close contacts who develop symptoms should be considered infected, so they should be isolated as if they were sick, until the test result is negative.
  • It is recommended that all close contacts be tested.
  • The advice on the distance between adults who are in quarantine within the home is modified in the sense that they should maintain the greatest possible distance between themselves.

In the last 24 hours, 499 new cases of infection have been registered in Norway, shows the summary of VG, which is the highest number recorded in one day. On Saturday, Norway passed a total of 20,000 infected, where 20,062 people have already been registered since the start of the pandemic.

Must be isolated

– The reason is that we see that much of the infection occurs in the home. It may be related to the increasing infection that we are seeing. Now we want to reduce the risk of the infection spreading in society, says health director Bjørn Guldvog to VG.

In the past, people infected with the coronavirus had to self-isolate at home, while close contacts with those infected with the virus had to be quarantined.

Requirements are now being introduced that those who are quarantined and develop symptoms must be isolated immediately until a possible negative test result is available.

The ten-day quarantine period must be fully implemented, even if you get a negative response to the test, the government writes.

Isolation means staying in one’s own home or in another suitable place of residence isolated from others as much as possible.

– When isolated, you cannot go for a walk or to the store, but if you are in quarantine, you have a chance to move outdoors if you keep your distance. In quarantine, you can also do absolutely necessary errands, says Guldvog.

Recommended to try

Everyone who has been in close contact with an infected person should be quarantined. Now it is recommended that they test themselves.

The ten-day quarantine period must be completed in full, even if you get a negative response to the test.

Adults in the same household who are quarantined at the same time should keep as much distance as possible from each other. The advice applies between adult members of the household and will not prevent contact between children and parents.

– For many, it will be difficult to keep a distance from other family members in their own home. To prevent family members from infecting each other, municipalities have a duty to offer accommodation to infected people who do not have the opportunity to isolate themselves in their own homes. Several of the larger cities have their own hotels for infected people, Høie says.

The case is being updated.
