A crew member from Hurtigruten’s MS ship “Fridtjof Nansen” tested positive for the coronavirus after returning to the Philippines. The ship is currently leased to “Mission Impossible 7”.
Hurtigruten has been informed that a MS “Fridtjof Nansen” crew member tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to the Philippines on August 26.
– The rest of the crew on board the MS “Fridtjof Nansen” tested negative for covid-19 after the person left the ship on August 25. In accordance with Hurtigruten routines, the crew was tested once more on Monday, August 31, says press officer Øystein Knoph in Hurtigruten.
He says that they are in permanent dialogue with the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH), and that they recommend that the operation of the ship continue as normal.
MS “Fridtjof Nansen” is currently at the Hellesylt dock, where the ship is rented from the production company “True North”, which is behind the new movie “Mission Impossible”.

Line producer Per Henry Borch on “True North” says that the team member from “Fridtjof Nansen” informed them about the positive test for covid-19.
– This is a proven case of a crew member who left the ship before we took it. None of this crew was on the ship when we arrived. We now comply with the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health, which are based on continuous operation as usual, Borch tells NTB.
In addition, he tells the news agency that everyone on board follows the infection control rules that Hurtigruten has set, and that they also have their own strict rules.
– There is no one on board who has reported symptoms of illness. The results of the new tests are expected in a few days. FHI recommends that the operation of the boat continue normally. But until the results are ready, the crew will remain on board the ship, Knoph says.
He says that in accordance with infection control routines, they have notified Norwegian authorities both locally and nationally.
– We are in continuous dialogue with NIPH and other relevant authorities, and we follow all the advice and guidelines we receive, says Knoph.
