Haugesund missed many opportunities. The Elite Series tabletop jumbo held its ground for the first time, igniting some hope of survival.
HAUGESUND – AALESUND 0-1:
– Actually, I should be able to be in the locker room, because I don’t remember seeing those scenes that are there now, Aalesund coach Lars Arne Nilsen tells TVNorge about the atmosphere after the game.
– It’s unreal. It costs, it was a tough fight. And I think most of the gang here had cramps. But it hurts to win football matches, and now it’s great, continues Nilsen.
The result in Haugesund halted a series of seven consecutive defeats for AaFK.

As the only team in the Eliteserien, Sunnmøre’s guests still had the advantage of avoiding setbacks in a league game this season. In a match that was characterized by very inhospitable weather, Nilsen’s team finally managed to break the grim statistics.
The fact that Niklas Castro also contributed three long-awaited points, with a flurry of a full blow, made the experience in the wet and windy settlement taste very sweet for Aalesund.

With just over a quarter of an hour to go, Kevin Martin Krygård tried to clear a long shot with a header, but it only hit Castro’s chest.
The Norwegian-Chilean squeezed the volley and sent the ball in a wide arc over Helge Sandvik for 0-1. In the remaining minutes, Aalesund heroically defended and saved at the finish line on several occasions.
Fever punishment and rescue
At least as important to the first away win for tango jerseys in the Eliteserien was goalkeeper Gudmund Taksdal Kongshavn.
After eight straight games on the bench, the 29-year-old made his first appearance since the beginning since August. And the Bergen man seized the opportunity with both hands.
Not least when they both saved a Niklas Sandberg penalty kick in a strong way in the second half, then avoided several great opportunities from FKH.
– He has those fights in the middle. He can be the best in Norway when he’s at that level there, says AaFK coach Nilsen.
Daan Klinkenberg met Mikkel Desler as the latter advanced towards the Aalesund field. Judge Tore Hansen awarded a penalty, to great protests from Klinkenberg and several of the Dutchman’s teammates.
Sandberg tried to send the penalty to the left of the AaFK goalkeeper with good force. With that, Kongshavn went soft as a cat and defended himself with his upper body.
– It’s glorious Kongshavn. He reads it and walks correctly, Kenneth Fredheim commented on TVNorge.
King in the cage
Replays showed the last chance started behind the goal line and went over the chalk on what Sandberg was going to shoot. One foot from Kongshavn, however, remained on the line, and the match officials found no basis to intervene.
Seconds later, the AaFK goalkeeper was about to receive a header in the next corner and again saved the visitors from setbacks.
The FKH continued to pressure the tired guests, but was thus punished even after Castro’s dream match, a quarter of an hour before the end.
After the other three points of the season, AaFK has finally achieved ten points. It still differs up to nine points to the start at the qualifying spot.
Coach Nilsen’s former club Brann is in place with 24 points ahead of Sunday’s away game against Sandefjord. Haugesund is ranked number ten with 28 points.
