The attacker received surprise messages after he missed a penalty kick in the elite series game against Start on Wednesday night. The fire department does not rule out a police report.

Brann secured 1-1 against Start’s renewed elite series contract for the 2021 season, but for Daouda Bamba it was far from a pleasant evening.

In the same match, the Brann striker missed a penalty that could have secured the Bergen side a 2-1 victory. After the match, he was greeted with racist messages on his phone via social media.

– Here you can see what I usually find after a match, says Bamba to BA and shows some of the messages.

– I have no words

The fire chief explains that he does not know who is sending him messages, but the examples Bamba shows are disgusting.

“Fucking stupid black” and “Fucking slave” are some of the things written for the 25-year-old.

– I have no words. It is completely “crazy” that this is so. This is not the first time. It’s not even the tenth time. It happens all the time, he says.

Bamba informs BA that he has received a total of 55 messages after Wednesday’s settlement at Sør Arena. He explains that he opened the first messages, but that he does not want to read the rest.

He doesn’t hide the fact that it hurts to receive such racist messages. Bamba says he finds little consolation in the fact that Brann saved his place in the Elite Series.

Ingebrigtsen does not rule out a police report

Brann coach Kåre Ingebrigtsen is completely disheartened by the provocation his player received when Nettavisen spoke to him on Wednesday night.

React strongly to the fact that someone decides to write something like that.

– It’s completely useless. It is reprehensible that someone could sit down and send such messages. It is not the first time, and the sad thing is that it is certainly not the last time that happens to a footballer. There is still a way to go, Ingebrigtsen tells Nettavisen.

Ingebrigtsen says that this is the first time she has experienced something like this happening to Bamba in Brann, but that she has understood that it has happened before. Explain that it affects the whole team.

– I feel like it affects everyone. That is so sad. When I read it, I think, “are we still there in 2020?” You’re just saddened by this, says Brann’s coach.

Ingebrigtsen says Brann is ready to act.

– We talk to Daouda and then we have to find out here, although it is impossible

He does not rule out that the club goes to the police.

– All of that is relevant. As long as there is such serious harassment, I think together with Daouda we must see what we can do. We must put an end to this, says Ingebrigtsen.
