On Tuesday, NRK reported on ten infected members of the Lystgåren Vokal choir, a choir that performs its rehearsals at Lystgården in Landås in Bergen.
Chorus leader Arild Bakke told TV 2 that eleven have already been diagnosed with the infection.
– It has been confirmed that 11 out of 15 are infected, confirms Bakke hoarsely over the phone, adding that the exercise in question lasted two hours.
Saved Distance
Bakke says they were aware of the distance between them during the exercise.
– We tried our best to maintain a good distance during exercise, but if we have followed all infection control procedures to the letter, I cannot say for sure, he says.
He also says that his experience is that a distance of one meter during such exercises is not enough.
– The day after the exercise, we received a message from one of those who had been there that the person had symptoms. When the person in question received confirmation of the covid-19, everyone who had been in the exercise was quarantined, so we did everything possible to prevent this from spreading further, says Bakke.
Recommend three meters
During Thursday’s press conference in Bergen, Health Councilor Beate Husa (KrF) addressed the importance of maintaining distance during these exercises.
– We see that part of the infection has spread through several different choir environments. We highly recommend infection control and that those who sing together keep a distance of three meters, Husa said.
Bakke says he supports the new recommendations.
