Hoppuka started out as a dream for Marius Lindvik, but it has turned into a nightmare.

The 22-year-old has been struggling with a swollen wisdom tooth lately and did not skip training sessions at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Thursday. Norway’s national jumping team has worked feverishly to prepare the jumper for qualification in. 14, but now it is clear that Lindvik is not at the top of the hill.

The VG reporter at the scene recently saw Alexander Stöckl run off the ground and get into a car after speaking with the Austrian national team doctors. The jumping coach is a private driver from Lindvik; They are on their way to the University Clinic in Innsbruck, where they will operate.

Lindvik was at the dentist in Germany earlier today, but it didn’t help with the toothache.

– He’s in a lot, a lot of pain, Stöckl tells VG by phone just after crossing the Austrian border. The Austrian team’s doctors are said to have helped the Norwegian spend an hour at the clinic.

As Lindvik does not jump in the leaderboard, he will not be allowed to participate in the traditional New Years jump race tomorrow. The hope is that you can save the rest of your jumping week for the talented jumper.

VG spoke to Lindvik about the bad tooth on Tuesday.

– I have had an inflammation in a wisdom tooth. The pain varies and I take painkillers. So far so good. But he had to go to the dentist here in Oberstdorf on Monday night, he said then.

Lindvik won last year’s New Years jump race and has started this year’s jump week in a brilliant way. In the opening race, he finished third and had already managed to blend into the favorites.

Another Norwegian favorite, Halvor Egner Granerud, finished fourth in the opening race. He was the longest and best in Thursday’s first practice round at 134.5 meters. In the second round of training, he followed with more cannon jumps – 141 meters.
