SKIEN: – It’s very embarrassing, MIF coach Vegard Hansen told Eurosport.
The words came a few minutes after Birk Risa had scored Odd’s 6-1 goal, and Hansen was dissatisfied with most of what the MIF did at the Skagerak Arena.
– We make very strange choices in pressure and we don’t drive one-on-one, said Hansen, who at the same time added that Skien’s team is a good team.
Especially when they get the leeway that the MIF gave them on Sunday.
– It wasn’t the easiest team to find today, Vegard Hansen summed up, before forward Sondre Liseth was the next to speak to the channel.
– We get pissed off at all stages of the game. That’s very embarrassing, Liseth thought.
0-1
Mjøndalen scored the opener of the match in the match against Odd on Sunday night. Then it was downhill for the guests. The match ended 6-1 for the hosts.
The MIF faced one of the top teams in the elite series in round 16. Odd, who was in bronze in the series, was on the Mjøndalen brown jersey program. Before the start of the game, the home team had 28 points, while the MIF had accumulated 14 points so far. In other words, it was a tough away game awaiting Vegard Hansen’s men.
The match in Skien started with a bang. Mjøndalen also tinkled with a goal in just over three minutes. The 1-0 was signed by Tonny Brochmann, who scored the first of the season. For a dream opening for the guests, he was a clear underdog before the game. However, later it would turn out to be a party with many advantages for the guests.
1–1
Odd struck back shortly after and tied on his own court. The hosts took the corner and Odds Espen Ruud was superbly positioned on the field. He headed the ball past MIF’s Sosha Makani and made it 1-1. With two goals in the opening minutes, it was time for a very exciting showdown in Sunday’s game.
The third goal of the game came in the 14th minute. Odd put the ball into the box and took a 2-1 lead. Mushaga Bakenga of the home team received a ball right in front of the goal and tipped it over the last defender from Mjøndalen, who unfortunately had no chance against Odd’s player at point blank range.
After 28 minutes, an error by the local left defense allowed Sosha Makani to pass. The last chance Iranian lay down and clung to the stomach. The medical staff got on the mat, but Makani finally got up and continued the game.

Odd goals on penalties
After just over half an hour, Joackim Olsen Solberg suffered a penalty after a clear hand. However, the 31-year-old did not agree with the decision and expressed dissatisfaction with the head judge. This resulted in a yellow card for Solberg, who incidentally wore the captain’s armband during the match. As is well known, Christian Gauseth is injured.
Odd took advantage of the penalty and jingled the ball into the left corner. Makani dived the wrong way and had no chance against Espen Ruud, who scored his second of the night. Thus, the 3-1 in Skien.
It wouldn’t be long before the home team got the ball back into the goal. Mushaga Bakenga and Markus Nakkim of the MIF run side by side towards the MIF goal. The latter struggled to avoid another goal, but fell short against Odd’s striker. So it was all 4-1 at Skagerak Arena even before the break.
It had been a first-half goal celebration in Skien. The MIF knocked out in the first of the match after a few minutes, but had four against later in the round.
2nd round
The MIF, who had had a very advantageous start to the game, made several substitutions during the break. William Sell, Dagur Dan Thorhallsson and Martin Rønning Ovenstad replaced Quint Jansen, Lars Olden Larsen and Tonny Brochmann.
It was still Odd who pushed the MIF in the opening minutes of the second half. However, MIF’s Vetle Dragsnes had a solid opportunity in the 56th minute. The MIF player received the ball from Liseth and aimed for the box office. However, the ball rolled right outside.
Odd responded with a cannon shot soon after. Mushaga Bakenga came close to extending the visitors lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of goal after a pass down the middle, but he lifted the ball over Makani and was a little too high and hit the crossbar.
Vegard Hansen made another substitution just over an hour after the game started. Forward Shuaibu Ibrahim was sent off and replaced by Fredrik Brustad. Another change had to be made shortly after, when Markus Nakkim sat down on the grass in obvious pain. He was replaced by Sondre Solholm Johansen, who had not been in Sunday’s starting lineup for a change.
5–1
Odd scored again in the 67th minute. So it was 5-1 at Skien, Elbasan Rashani signed. Odd’s player dribbled past the MIF defense and aimed for the right corner. Makani stretched but didn’t reach until the ball entered the goal.
After 72 minutes, the visitors leveled 1 – 1 as Brustad finished off a fantastic pass from the left. Sondre Liseth takes the penalty, which was first stopped by the goalkeeper and then returned. The return attempt ended on the crossbar for Liseth, who was clearly upset about it.
Odd continued to show strength at home. Six minutes before full time, Bakenga was alone with Makani and should have scored his third for the night. The last MIF defense was saved, but Odd’s player saw another opportunity in the return. That attempt, however, went straight to the bar.
Just before full time, Martin Rønning Ovenstad received a yellow card for filming. However, he struck back soon after, with a relatively good goal attempt. However, the shot ended up in the trenches in Odd’s last defense.
The home team crowned the victory with another goal in extra time. Odds Birk Risa put the ball into the net for the hosts.
The match ended 6-1 against Odd and the MIF took no points from the round. No good day at work for the brown players.
