It could have really gone wrong when a driverless car with a child ended up on the train track in Skøyen this afternoon.
Odd Rune Sivertsen was sitting at home in his first-floor living room when he saw the driverless car that ended up on the train track.
– I saw the car coming at an incredible speed down the hill, he tells Aftenposten. He adds that a man came running after the car.
– When I got up, I saw that the car was on the other side of the track. Two seconds later the train arrived, he says.
No one injured – major delays
There was a child in the car. According to the police, he was unharmed.
Police reported the incident on Twitter shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The message was then that a car with passengers, but without a driver, passed through an arm and left between the train tracks.
The “boom” turns out to be a gate in a fence. Bane Nor still can’t say anything about whether the door was secured enough.
– We have to spend time checking it out, says press officer Gunnar Børseth.
The track reopened at 5 pm
The incident caused significant delays in train traffic in the Oslo area. It was a complete train stop for an hour.
After the car was removed from the track, Vy announced at 5 p.m. that the track had reopened. The incident was also said to affect traffic for some time.
– It will take a while before the trains will run normally again, communications manager Gina Scholz at Vy told Aftenposten. However, he thought the trains would be on schedule during the afternoon.
Everything from Flytoget and local traffic to Bergenstoget was affected by the train stop. Several trains were canceled. The skytrain had to turn around for a time at Oslo S.
I had to check the track
According to Børseth in Bane Nor, they had to investigate the condition of the track after firefighters removed the car.
– If there is extensive damage, it will take a long time, he said this afternoon.
But now the track is open again.
