Hans Jørgen Sandnes is one of Norway’s most famous children’s book illustrators behind the super-popular “Detective Agency # 2”. When he leaves alone with a new children’s boxing series about Ofelia that is engulfed by moths and sea worms.
The author’s debut for illustrator Hans Jørgen Sandnes offers an uncomplicated life and a fascinating field of study. But really compelling or exciting is never the comic.
Cryptozoology is the doctrine of unknown animals for which there is no traditional evidence. Ophelia is enveloped by sea monsters and sea worms. With her sea green hair and adoptive family history, she is a different protagonist.
Comic 9-13 years
Happy and happy, self-assured and always on par with the situation. Ofelia is a nice childish heroine, but not very credible. Together with the old fisherman Bernhard in the neighboring house, he undertakes voyages of discovery to the seabed and strikes to solve a disappearance case.

Everything is simple and uncomplicated in the town of Saltvik. They all agree with each other. The teenage sister with headbands and pink gum may have been a jealous emotional bomb, but life for the new family is harmonious from the get-go.

The images are full of smooth movements and happy faces in muted and muted colors. The cartoon design is holistic and professional. Sandnes is an experienced illustrator and he also has a whole media house on the back of his books.
The sea is in absolutely every shade of green, and here are many beautiful illustrations to study. Often the pictures in the comic strips are also shaken. The sea is an important person in the book and the most inept.
The story has a lack of credibility. Ofelia falls asleep on the dock after the hunt for sea monsters at night and manages to join a submarine trip and eat cookies with her neighbor before the newly beaten parents start looking for her.

They may think that nothing dangerous can happen in the village, and they do it well, there is not a single bad thought or action here. But such deficiencies make it difficult to live in action and in people.
A side story about a child who is submerged in water and disappears is also not well integrated, slowing down good reading flow.

If a publisher hits a series here, it could turn into a gold mine, as “Detective Agency # 2” went to Gyldendal before losing Jørn Lier Horst at Stordalen’s Strawberry Publishing. The hope is that Sandnes, Lier Horst’s partner, can fill this gap.

“Into the Depth” has a story and a protagonist who does not fully understand the reader. But it may well be that the green sea and cryptozoology draw readers from one book to another for long periods to come.
The second book in the series arrives in October. It costs twice as much as the first book.
