NEW YORK (Dagbladet): On Monday, Trump released a press release attacking two of America’s leading infection control experts.
Among other things, Trump says that Fauci and Birx are two people trying to promote themselves to “rewrite history and cover up their bad instincts and faulty recommendations, which I thankfully almost always reversed.”

Trump accuses Fauci, the US chief of infection control, of trying to take credit for vaccine development and of “looking his best.” Birx, who was the coordinator of Trump’s crown task force, “is a liar with very little credibility left,” he says.
Trump’s reaction comes after a CNN documentary on the pandemic in which Fauci says he was shocked when Trump in April last year asked the nation’s states to “break free” from expert advice to comply with the closing measures.
Birx says she received a “very uncomfortable” phone call from Trump when he spoke publicly about the rapid spread of the virus. The federal authorities did not give a consistent message to the people, and that was the biggest mistake, he tells the channel. She believes that hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved if the answer had been better.
“Fauci and Birx were too slow, and if it were up to them, we would still be trapped in our basements as the country suffers from the economic recession,” Trump said.
He also criticizes Fauci’s ability to throw a baseball, calling Fauci “the king of sandals” and saying that “Birx was a cruel medical adviser, so I rarely followed her advice.”

Wedding speech
Following the deadly attack on Congress on January 6, Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter. Since then, he has had to communicate through press releases, speeches or interviews.
On Saturday, Trump held what would be a wedding speech at his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Celebrity website TMZ has posted video of the speech in which Trump is wearing a tux.
Trump was supposed to congratulate the bride and groom, but he did so only after nearly 400 incoherent words about Joe Biden’s policy in Iran and China, the situation on the Mexican border and false accusations of widespread voter fraud, writes The Guardian. Much was similar to Trump’s campaign speeches last year.

Boasts of the vaccine
Trump remains very popular with many Republicans and has flirted with the idea of running again in 2024. The speech was also greeted with cheers and applause at Trump’s home, Mar-a-Lago.
