NEW YORK (Dagbladet): Trump lost the presidential election to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. However, he currently refuses to admit defeat. Rather, he and the supporters around him have filed a series of lawsuits.
During Trump’s years in the White House, the public has become acquainted with various supporters.
– I don’t think the history books are kind to Donald Trump and his presidency. For four years he has exerted tremendous pressure on the entire political system. It has been very disturbing. He was close to the future of the system if he hadn’t lost now, Rutgers University political science professor Ross Baker tells Dagbladet.
A catastrophic handling of the corona pandemic stands out.
– red alarm
– Finished
Now he predicts that the future prospects for those who have helped Trump during the presidency could be quite bleak.
– Your resumes will probably not be well received by employers in Washington DC. Lower-level people can do well, but where should Stephen Miller go? says Baker.
I have a bad feeling
Miller is Trump’s senior adviser and speechwriter. Among other things, it has played a very central role in the sharp tightening of Trump’s immigration policy.
He’s backed by Democratic strategist and polling expert John Zogby.
– I hope and believe that these people have made money now. Rudy Giuliani has finished. Kellyanne Conway has finished. Kayleigh McEnany, who will hire you now? Zogby says to Dagbladet.
Giuliani is Trump’s personal attorney, who, among other things, has been very central in all the post-election lawsuits. Conway was Trump’s key adviser most of the time in the White House. McEnany is Trump’s current spokesperson.
– does not disappear
However, David Birdsell, a political science professor and dean of Baruch College’s Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, believes they may still be able to find work in Washington DC.
– It depends on where the Republican Party goes. Trump will leave the White House, but Trump supporters and Trumpism will not go away. So those people will probably stay there, Birdsell tells Dagbladet.
Only these can persuade Trump
He also believes that new opportunities may arise if Trump chooses to run for reelection in 2024 or when other Republican politicians take over.
Many books inside
At the same time, many former Trump employees are now expected to write books about the weather inside.
– If people are having a hard time finding work, you may want to spend time writing a book. Book agents in Washington will be under siege, says Baker.
Many will also have a clear desire to publicly distance themselves from the resigned and highly controversial president.
– Some will probably say that they didn’t work for Trump, but for the country. There will be many books and books that say “it wasn’t my fault.” There will be a lot of gossip and many of the books will fill the shelves for books for sale in the future, Zogby predicts.
