Donald Trump – New Telephone Recording: Investigator Pressured

NEW YORK (Dagbladet): On December 23 last year, then-US President Donald Trump spoke for six minutes with Georgia’s premier election fraud investigator. A new audio recording of the conversation, published by the Wall Street Journal, shows how he tried to pressure her to reverse the outcome in the state she lost to Joe Biden.

“When the correct answer is known, it will be acclaimed,” Trump told chief investigator Frances Watson in the recording.

In Georgia there has been no evidence of widespread electoral fraud.

– Something wrong

The traditional Republican state went to Joe Biden with about 12,000 votes in the presidential election in November last year. Despite reports and polls, no new information has emerged to suggest that Trump won. Yet Trump has for several months gone on to claim that his election was stolen.

– I won everything but Georgia. And I won Georgia. I know. By a wide margin. And people know it. And something happened there. Something went wrong there, Trump said in the phone call.

The Washington Post mentioned the conversation on January 9, but this is the first time the actual audio recording has been published.

When Trump called, Watson and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated more than 15,000 voter signatures in Cobb County, the predominantly Democratic district outside Atlanta. The review found no evidence of vote-by-mail fraud, writes CNN.

– Interested in the truth

In the conversation, Trump tries to tell Watson in detail how this investigation should be conducted. He also asks you to look into another county, Fulton County.

– We have heard of dishonesty. But Fulton is the main problem, says Trump.

“I can assure you that our team and the Georgia Office of Investigation are only interested in the truth and finding fact-based information,” Watson responds.

Another phone conversation between Trump and Secretary of State Brian Raffensperger caused a stir just after the New Year. The images from the conversation clearly establish that Trump is pressuring Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes” for him to win the state.

– Exact electoral result

– This phone conversation is just another example of how the public comments from Raffensperger’s office also reflected what we said in personal conversations. We would follow the law, count every legitimate vote, and investigate all allegations of voter fraud. That’s exactly what we did, and how we concluded with an accurate election result, Raffensperger spokesman Ari Schaffer told CNN.

Fulton County Georgia Attorney General Fani Willis has launched a criminal investigation into Trump. Trump’s phone call with Watson will now be part of this investigation.

Trump has always denied that he did anything wrong. He also continues to claim that his elections were stolen.

“If Mr. Raffensperger didn’t want to get phone calls about the election, he shouldn’t have been running for prime minister,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller told CNN in early February.
