During a press conference on Wednesday night Norwegian time, President Donald Trump contradicts one of his health leaders, CDC Director Robert Redfield.
Redfield is the director of the US National Center for Infection Control (CDC) and testified under oath in Congress early Wednesday. According to The Washington Post, Redfield said, among other things, that a vaccine wouldn’t be ready for most people until the summer or fall of 2021.
According to Redfield, after the vaccine is approved, it will take six to nine months before it can be distributed nationally, writes NPR.
– I think he made a mistake when he said that. This is not correct information. I called him and he didn’t tell me and I think he got the message. Maybe he was confused, maybe it went wrong. We will be ready as soon as the vaccine is announced.

The president confirms that he has confidence in the head of the CDC, even though he believes Redfield is giving the wrong answer and misinterprets the questions.

During the hearing, Redfield also explained that masks can be more effective protection against the virus than a possible vaccine. Redfield said the nozzle is the most important and powerful tool for most people, according to NPR.
“I can even go so far as to say that this bandage guarantees me more protection against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine,” Redfield said.

Redfield also said that Americans have yet to embrace the use of face masks to a level that can effectively control the outbreak.
