Republican Senator Mitt Romney is known as a sharp critic of former President Donald Trump.
He was one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Donald Trump during the second trial against him.
He did the same during the first Supreme Court case against the former president, then as the only Republican. Trump was acquitted in both high court cases.

“President Trump has been disrespectful to American voters, he has shamed the electoral system and disgraced the presidency,” Romney said after the Jan.6 attack on Congress.

Although Romney is a sharp critic of Trump, of one thing he is sure. He believes the former president will win the nomination to become the Republican presidential candidate in 2024.
This, of course, presupposes that Trump is running for office, something he has not currently said he will do.

“I don’t know if he will run in 2024, but if he does, I am sure that he will win the nomination,” Romney said in a new interview with the New York Times.

The Trump critic noted that “a lot can happen between now and 2024,” adding:
– I look at the polls, and the polls show that among the names mentioned as possible candidates in 2024, if you put Donald Trump among the Republicans, he wins by an overwhelming majority.

When asked by major newspapers if he would fight Trump, Romney replied:
– I would not vote for Trump again. I have not voted for him before, and would probably support someone who I think represents the small wing of the Republican Party that I represent.
He is expected to speak
On Sunday, Donald Trump is expected to give his first speech since leaving the White House on January 20.
Several American media have experienced this.
According to the media, Trump will say in the speech that he will be the “assumed” candidate of the Republicans during the 2024 elections.
The future of the Republican Party is one of the issues Trump is expected to discuss at the summit.
