Selling your largest diamond at the end of the crown year. The price is also one of a kind.

– I never had something like this before
At David-Andersen, who make many pieces of jewelry themselves, they can sport a very special ring for Christmas.
– This is a very special diamond that was found by our gemologist Hallvar Sagøy. It’s 5.13 carats and our jeweler made it on a rail with 56 diamonds around it, Nygaard says.
Label price: 1,750,000 crowns
“It’s completely unique, and we’ve never had something like this here before,” he says.
The “little brother” is 3.0 carats.
The price tag is also unique:
– This ring costs 1,750,0000 crowns. It is very expensive, but that is because it is very rare.
– How was it possible to make this ring at the end of the crown year?
– We see that the demand for expensive jewelry has increased and people want jewelry made in Norway. This is done in our workshop, upstairs. Oslo customers appreciate this craft, according to Nygaard.

– Contacted from abroad
The ring has not yet found its hand:
– But we have already received requests, from abroad, although it has only been here a week.
– Who is in the target group?
– Someone with good money, obviously.
According to David-Andersen’s boss, they have been visited by many women who have bought jewelry during the fall.
– They have been able to afford it because they have not spent money on travel, he says.
– Do you see a change in the buying pattern, is it no longer the case that women expect to get diamonds from their men?
– It is very nice that women give themselves something. Men are good at buying things for us when we want them, so it is very good for women to do the same. But we sell the most expensive jewelry to men.
– with a smile on his face
– How do they act?
– Often with a smile on his face, Nygaard laughs.
– Do you notice that the willingness to pay increases the closer we get to Christmas Eve?
– Yes, gemologist Hallvar Sagøy and executive director Inge Nygaard respond in chorus.
– You always say that at least one man comes on Christmas Eve and buys 100,000 crowns, says the boss to Sagøy.
