A memorial service for 13-year-old Dhenujen Yogathas, who died on Friday after being beaten by Haugenstua in Oslo on Thursday, gathered more than 300 people at Trygve Lie’s home at Furuset in Groruddalen on Monday night.
The youth worker Monsef Benali spoke with his “dear and good friend”, on behalf of all the child and youth workers of the Furuset Forum.
– Dhenujen was the definition of a ray of living sun. We are left with so many good memories and experiences from Dhenujen. He was always an optimist who looked forward to life, even when things didn’t always turn out his way. He always wore a big smile, says Benali from the podium.
Heart of light
Above a heart of candles, the organizers had hung a banner with a photo of the 13-year-old and one of his most used statements: “Everyone should be friends.”
This is how everyone on the podium talked about the boy, who was ripped off so abruptly last week.
He had a heart of gold. He saw other people. He cared.
Both his friends and his school teacher rose to the pulpit to speak their words in memory of Dhenujen.
– All the street down
Finally, his uncle entered the stage.
– I don’t have many words, but thanks to everyone who has been here. We are completely shattered. The family is completely depressed, he said.
A man in his 30s is now charged with negligent manslaughter after driving over the 13-year-old boy at Haugenstua in Oslo on Thursday. He was presented for jail on Saturday afternoon.
The man admits to driving the boy, but does not admit criminal guilt for driving under the influence of drugs.
