From the evacuation hotel, Ann-Mari’s and Victoria’s family are awaiting responses from the search operation in the area of the landslide.
When VG talks to the family, they meet at the evacuation hotel in Gardermoen. There they receive help from the crisis team.
– It’s heavy, says Odd Steinar Sørengen, heavily influenced, over the phone.
He came out of the landslide, but is awaiting an answer about his partner Ann-Mari and her daughter Victoria, who are missing after the Gjerdrum landslide.
The rescue team spends Saturday searching for survivors in the area of the landslide. Both humans and dogs search the buildings that remain after the avalanche.
Waiting for clarification
Photos are posted with the family’s permission.
– It was difficult to see their names on the list yesterday (published by police, editor’s note). Then it became more real.
VG had already told Odd Steinar the story. The last time he saw his partner and daughter was when the three tried to leave the house while the landslide was taking place. Odd Steinar was trapped in the ruins that had collapsed on him.

Two out of ten are still missing. Two of them have been confirmed dead, one on Friday and one on Saturday. None of them have been identified, so the family is still waiting for the autopsy response.
– I hope we get clarification soon, says Åse-Lill.
I found a rhythm
Åse-Lill, Ann-Mari’s sister and Victoria’s aunt, says that it is nice to be in a hotel where a lot of things happen and not at home with your own thoughts.
In the hotel they have found a kind of rhythm.
– We get up, try to eat breakfast, wait, eat more. We try to be normal, talk together and joke around. We don’t want what happened to be true, says Åse-Lill, adding how it feels to follow the search operation:
– The waiting time is heavy and unreal.
Continue the search
In a press conference at 3pm, task leader Roy Alkvist says they have searched an area of around 1.2 targets in the landslide area.
– We have gone as far as is considered justifiable, but more work is being done in relation to the analysis and assessment of the land in the area, in order to eventually change the entry routes but also to see where we can put the search, he says.
The search continues with the same intensity as today.
– We are still in a situation where we are looking for survivors. That situation won’t change tonight, Alkvist says.
The family still hopes that Ann-Mari and Victoria are alive, but also says that over time it becomes less likely.
– Deep down, we probably know, says Åse-Lill.
