Deductible NOK 500 per night for quarantined hotel – E24

Must, or employer must, cover the cost of quarantined stays in hotels. This was stated by Justice Minister Monica Mæland at the government press conference on Monday afternoon.

The deductible will be NOK 500 per night for individuals and companies must pay NOK 1,500 per day for the employees who will work for them and will be quarantined first.

– The state will reimburse the expenses of the municipalities for the quarantined hotels, says Mæland at the press conference.

Anyone who does not have a suitable place to stay for a ten-day quarantine must stay in a hotel. No changes have been made to who should be quarantined upon entry.

Compensation scheme for companies

– Employers who must bring labor to Norway are responsible for housing them according to quarantine rules, says Mæland, noting that the rules have been tightened by the need for private rooms.

Mæland believes that it is reasonable that companies have to pay for it themselves.

– There will also be a compensation scheme for companies that have expenses for this, says Mæland.

It points out that the rate for individuals is low and that, in any case, there should be food and drink expenses.

– But for many, this will be experienced as demanding, says Mæland.

You can also stay in private rooms.

The quarantine period is not shortened even if you receive a negative corona test during the quarantine period.

Even those who come to Norway to work and who have an employer who provides quarantine in private rooms can escape the hotel quarantine.

The government has already announced that travelers from so-called “red countries” must present a negative covid-19 test certificate when they arrive in Norway. It must be taken within 72 hours before departure. If it is not negative, you will not be admitted if you are not Norwegian or live in Norway, says Mæland.
