In the revised national budget, Transport Minister Knut Arild Hareide (KrF) cuts the state subsidy to Fornebubanen.
“Instead, the money will be paid another year,” writes Transport Minister Knut Arild Hareide (KrF) in a press release.
– Delayed due to E18
The government’s reason for not needing this year’s money is that the course is delayed. And the delay is due to the conflict around E18, according to the minister.
He emphasizes that the cut in 2020 will not impede the development of the metro from Majorstuen in Oslo to the old Bærum airport.
– It is the way the project is connected to E18 Lysaker – Ramstadsletta that delays the course, writes Hareide.
“The government still has the ambition to contribute to the development of Fornebubanen as soon as possible,” he emphasizes.
– Erroneous information
The Oslo City Council is critical for the government to draw the E18-inflamed battle into the revised national budget and funding for Fornebubanen.
The Oslo Environment and Transport Agency, Arild Hermstad (MDG), believes that this is done in completely incorrect terms.
– It is sensational that people present incorrect information from the government, says Hermstad.
That the Fornebuban is delayed as a result of the E18 conflict is, in fact, incorrect, we believe that the MDG City Council.
Construction begins October 1.
He points out that the plan is to stick the shovel to the ground on October 1. That was also the plan for The connection between E18 and Fornebubanen originated.
The archipelago in January was made public with October 2020 as the start time for construction.
February 10 was the first time that Knut Arild Hareide stated that there was a connection between Fornebubanen and E18.
In a meeting with local authorities, he threatened to withhold money for Fornebubanen if Oslo and Viken did not support an E18 development.
Since then, the threat has been repeated several times, including when Hareide withdrew the state from the E18 negotiations in April.
– Guess
According to Oslo City Council Arild Hermstad, a cut of NOK 200 million in this year’s budget is quite dramatic.
However, his reason for needing money is very different from Hareides’. Hermstad’s explanation is that one of the stations on the track, namely Skøyen, is considerably cheaper than expected.
Hence, the claim that the E18 conflict has delayed Hermstad’s path to stir.
– It’s just starting furiously wrong. One has to wonder how long the Transport Minister will continue to hold the Fornebubanen hostage to build a NOK 17 billion heavy highway through Bærum, he says.
Delays of fear
If the E18 battle hasn’t delayed the Fornebuban yet, you can do it quickly.
– We will continue our progress. But in a few weeks, there is so much uncertainty that we have to set foot on the ground and see what to do, Hermstad says.
Negotiations on the first major ground work contract will begin shortly, while the first tunnel contract is on its way to the market.
– We completely depend on the Transport Minister confirming that the state is taking its part of the road, as promised eleven months ago, says Arild Hermstad.
NRK has asked the Ministry of Transport and Communications to respond to complaints of incorrect information. According to the information department, they have not had a chance to respond today.
