On NRK’s annual show “The Year with the Royal Family,” Crown Princess Mette-Marit (47) also remembers the year without her ex-brother-in-law, Ari Behn.

The crown princess hasn’t said much after her death on December 25 last year. In the interview, he does not hide the fact that it is difficult to talk about Behn’s death.

– I think it’s still difficult to talk about that. Ari was a person who was very, very fond of, and everyone was very fond of him, that he fought the way he did and chose to end his life. It’s very heavy, he tells NRK.

– Proud of the girls

The Crown Princess highlights in particular the three daughters Maud Angelica (17), Leah Isadora (15) and Emma Tallulah (12), who lost their beloved father. As is well known, the former made a strong speech at her father’s funeral in Oslo Cathedral on January 3, where she encouraged people struggling to seek help.

– I am above all very proud of Ari’s girls, and especially of Maud who managed to give this beautiful speech at the funeral. But also the rest of Ari’s family who chose to be open about it, says Mette-Marit.

The crown princess herself has worked with mental health for many years and says on the show that she believes the openness of the family has made more people open up to their challenges.

– I think people had the feeling that they had to take care of people who knew they were struggling, Crown Princess Mette-Marit tells NRK.
