BALLSTAD (Dagbladet): Mariell Eriksen (24) reflected on how she may have been infected by covid-19.
He couldn’t understand that he had done something wrong against the infection control rules. Still, the guilt grew, perhaps because he runs a café and associates with many people both there, in the shops and in the family.
Coronaskam.
“- Unfortunately I have to announce that yesterday I tested positive for covid-19. The feelings you have are disgusting and embarrassing. I am ashamed. Not necessarily because it is very embarrassing, but because I think it is very good to know that it could have been a source of infection having no idea about it. “
This state that Mariell Eriksen posted on the Facebook page of her own MER Café in the Leknes municipal center in Vestvågøy has been noted by many in and around Lofoten. The self-blame message about why the cafe is closed for the time being was first mentioned on Lofotenposten last weekend.
– Much easier now
Dagbladet meets Mariell at a safe distance from the stairs outside the house in Ballstad, a few miles from the cafe in central Leknes.
Inside the house, the partner and the one and a half year old son are free from contagion.
He has a few days left from the quarantine infection, he coughs a little, but feels pretty good both physically and mentally.
– I think it was a lot easier to deal with after I went on Facebook. He was in a much better mood the next day. I think openness makes it easier to deal with. There have been many positive comments, he says.
The face of shame has given many a thought-provoking encouragement about fighting shame.
– Common terrifying
– How does covid-19 look like a fit 24 year old?
– A bit like the usual cold, a little sore throat. After a few days I had a real headache and cough and some pain in my chest. But no more than the usual flu. That’s what’s kind of scary, says Mariell.
His prescription against shame has already had a very concrete consequence. Melissa Henningsen (25) also told about her covid-19 infection a few days later.
She tells Lofotenposten that it was Mariell Eriksen who allows her to notify clients and the work environment in that way as well. She works in a bridal and wellness salon in the same building as Marielle’s cafe.
Melissa is especially happy about the feedback from clients who are not infected and returns to the salon.
Now it’s okay again. Seven infected family members were also found in the new “wave” on Vestvågøy.
Know but it won’t pass the time
– I lost my taste and smell. Mom’s cutlets were tasteless, so I did the test, he says.
– Do you know where it got infected? Lofot-Tidende asks.
– Yes. But we are not going to hang anyone, because this is no one’s fault. It seems we were in a place where several of us were infected at the same time, says Melissa Henningsen.
