Warns against harsh images later in the case
On Monday this week, the board of directors of Hjemløse Katter på Løken received a text message saying that three cats were to be hung from a tree near a hiking trail, writes Indre Akershus Blad.
The president of the board, Kjersti Teig, has been known in the area since before, and traveled to the place.
When she arrived, she was shocked by her life.
A cat hung from a tree. The guts, hair, and body parts of two other cats lay on the ground. Next to the cats were three shotgun shells.

– I had never imagined the vision I came to. It was awkward and very unnecessary, Teig tells Indre Akershus Blad.
– What were you thinking when you arrived at the place?
– When you see that, you just have to throw up. It’s so grotesque. I’m getting restless. Doing such a thing is totally unacceptable!
Indre Akershus Blad has seen several images of the cat in the tree. The images are so ugly that the local newspaper chooses not to print them.
Found by hiking trail
The cats were found near a hiking trail in Grorudfjellet in Enebakkneset, about 40 meters from the main road and 400 meters from the nearest residential house.
– It was a hunter who first discovered cats. He was completely horrified by what he saw. According to him, all three cats were hanging from the tree when he saw them, but there are assumptions on our part, says board member Tittin Foss-Haneborg.
The cat hanging from the tree is most likely a young cat, about a year old. The age and sex of the other two cats were impossible to determine.
The cat was taken to the Trøgstad Animal Clinic, where an autopsy was performed.
– The report shows a lead shot in the jaw area. The cat also had major injuries here. Also, there was a lot of hail in the abdomen. It’s been shot point-blank, and that’s the cause of death, too, says Foss-Haneborg.
The cartridges have now been handed over to the Aurskog-Høland bailiff’s office and the case has been reported.
I’m glad it wasn’t a family that found them
– What do you think of the circumstances of the case?
– The animal has not climbed the tree that way alone. Most likely he’s hanging alive. He didn’t seem homeless, but he didn’t have a chip either. There were no remains of cardboard boxes in the area. How the cats were transported there, we have no idea. Nor what is the reason for this terrible murder, says Foss-Haneborg.

The Homeless Cats board fears that there are families who miss their cats.
– As is the case, it may appear that someone has done this because they are angry at cats. There is no one more hated than young cats. They live dangerously. The fact that there are cartridges left by the cats indicates that the person (s) have been more concerned about killing the cats. I’m glad it wasn’t a family on a trip that found the animals, says Foss-Haneborg.
She encourages people in the area to be vigilant.
– This is not a fair act, no matter what the reason. I encourage people to follow their cats. I get pissed off on behalf of cats, says the board member.
Indre Akershus Blad has been unable to obtain a comment from the police on the case.
