A crew member from the Hurtigruten Fridtjof Nansen ship tested positive for the coronavirus after returning to the Philippines on August 26.

All the rest of the crew tested negative and it has now been tested once more, Hurtigruten reports to NTB.

– There is no one on board who has reported symptoms of illness. The results of the new tests are expected in a few days. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health recommends that the ship’s operation continue as normal. But until the results are ready, the crew will remain on board the ship, says press officer Øystein Knoph.

“Mission Impossible”

MS Fridtjof Nansen is currently at the Hellesylt pier in the Stranda municipality, where the ship will be leased from the Truenorth production company next month. Currently, the company is working on the filming of the seventh film “Mission Impossible” with Tom Cruise.

The Hollywood star arrived in western Norway on Friday, but has not been aboard Fridtjof Nansen, according to NTB’s experience.

Does not affect the film

Line producer Per Henry Borch in Truenorth says that Fridtjof Nansen’s team member informed them about the positive test for covid-19.

– This is a proven case of a crew member who left the ship before we took it. None of this crew was on the ship when we arrived. We now comply with the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health, which are based on continuous operation as usual, Borch tells NTB.

In accordance with infection control routines, Hurtigruten has notified Norwegian authorities both locally and nationally. Borch says that everyone on board follows the infection control rules Hurtigruten has set and that they also have their own rules that are very strict.

Quarantined crew

– We are in continuous dialogue with NIPH and other relevant authorities and we follow all the advice and guidelines we receive, says Øystein Knoph at Hurtigruten.

The entire team at MS Fridtjof Nansen, including the person who has now been diagnosed with coronary heart disease, tested negative on August 4. Three colleagues who traveled with him tested negative when they arrived in the Philippines.

– The crew member in the Philippines is now in quarantine and will be re-examined. We were informed that the person in question has no symptoms of illness, Knoph says.
