After three weeks of decline, infection rates point to the upside again. The situation is particularly worrying in three counties; Trøndelag, Innlandet and Vestfold / Telemark, says FHI top.

New record for infections in Grenland and Trondheim
On Thursday, there will be reports of a record number of new infections from Telemark. On Christmas Eve, 33 new wreath cases were registered in the municipalities of Grenland, writes Telemarksavisa.
It is in Porsgrunn that most new cases of infection were recorded on Wednesday. Here, 17 were registered infected on Christmas Eve, the highest number in a day in the municipality. In Skien, 15 new cases of infection were registered on Wednesday. Skien and the municipality of Porsgrunn still have an increasing tendency to infection. On Wednesday a new case of infection was registered in Bamble, according to Telemarksavisa.

Trondheim also reports records of infections. On Wednesday, 46 new infections were registered in the municipality, the highest number so far.
On Monday, 44 people tested positive, which was a new record. On Tuesday, 39 new people tested positive, NTB reports.
The Trondheim municipality presidency was called for meetings on both Christmas 1 and 2 after the municipality’s crisis management met on Christmas Eve, Nidaros reports. According to the newspaper, it may be relevant to shut down all nightlife on Christmas Day.

2,900 new cases in week 51
The latest weekly report from the National Institute of Public Health came Wednesday and shows an increase in the number of reported cases in the past two weeks after a decline in the previous three weeks.
So far 2900 cases have been reported at week 51. This is a 7% increase compared to week 50, when 2714 cases were reported. At the same time, there was an increase in the number of test takers from 22 percent last week and the proportion of positives among test takers decreased from 2.3 percent in week 50 to 2 percent in week 51. There has been a decrease in the proportion of positives from week 47, according to FHI.
Oslo and Viken account for 59 percent of the cases reported in week 51 and still have the highest infection rate with 189 and 178 cases reported per 100,000 population during weeks 50 and 51 combined.
Several local outbreaks have led to an increase in the number of cases reported in seven counties in the past week, and there has been a significant increase in the number of cases reported in Inland, Vestfold and Telemark and Trøndelag in recent weeks. Nordland has the lowest incidence with 16 cases per 100,000 population during weeks 50 and 51 combined.
