A total of 100 people in two municipalities of Gudbrandsdalen are infected and isolated. – The situation is not yet clear, says the municipal chief doctor.
OSLO (Nettavisen): two municipalities of Gudbrandsdalen. Nord-Fron and Sør-Fron, are in the middle of a widespread outbreak of infection. The municipal doctor says that infection in homes is the biggest concern and asks people to avoid visiting each other and that visits from other municipalities are not desirable now either.
Mayor Rune Støstad (Labor Party) in Nord-Fron municipality said in a live feed on Facebook on Friday that the situation the municipality is in has been difficult for a long time.
– It has been a month since the first outbreak. 146 people have been confirmed infected in the last month in Nord-Fron, he said.
Right now, 100 infected people are isolated in both Sør- and Nord-Fron.
The mayor promised that the population and health personnel of the municipality will do everything in their power to control the situation.
– The municipality is the defense force when the crisis hits, he said.
Two outbreaks: they haven’t shown a connection
– There are two outbreaks and we have not been able to prove any connection, said municipal chief doctor Anders Braband, who also described the situation as difficult, both in Sør-Fron and Nord-Fron.
He described the outbreak as large, not just in a local context:
– This is a major outbreak not only locally and in relation to the population, but also in a national context and noted that a total of 100 people have been placed in isolation.
– We still have no cases of the so-called wild infection. The situation is still unclear and I am still concerned, Braband emphasized.
The outbreak in Nord-Fron is linked in this round to two kindergartens.
Red level in high school
Vinstra Upper Secondary, where there are many students from other parts of the country, has moved to the Red Initiative level with home tuition.
The municipality has also issued clear advice to limit social contacts and avoid visits:
– Transmission occurs mainly at home in private homes. What drives the high numbers now is infection within the families associated with these two kindergartens. The fear is that if people visit each other now, the infection could spread outside of the now quarantined settings, Braband said.
