On Tuesday, Prime Minister Erna Solberg will present new crown measures to the Storting.

OSLO (Nettavisen): Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) arrived on Tuesday with several calls to Norwegians in the future, including OM not to go abroad and limit domestic travel. At the same time, Norwegians abroad were told not to come home for Easter. He also announced that the hotel quarantine plan could be extended.

You can follow the Storting’s statement in the video window below:

The Prime Minister made it clear that the spread of the infection is now too high and describes the infection situation as fragile. He emphasized that it is crucial to keep the infection low in March and April so that it is possible to open in May.

– Many are affected by the virus, and even more are affected by the fight against the infection, the prime minister began when she presented new crowning measures at the Storting.

– R number is too high

The R number is estimated at 1.3, and it is too high, and there have been a number of outbreaks across the country, Solberg continued, noting that most outbreaks are now caused by the most contagious variant of the virus.

He made it clear that future prospects are bleak if the infection is not reduced from the current level:

– An R number of 1.3 over time will lead us to lose control. In 75 days, at the end of May, we will be able to have 50 times more daily cases of infection than today. Long before we get there, the municipalities’ infection tracking system will collapse and the pressure on hospitals will be great, Solberg said, announcing that the government is considering stricter national measures and that in the worst case it may also return. at the end of March last year.

70 percent of new infection cases have now been registered in Oslo and Viken. Here the variant of the English virus dominates, the Prime Minister pointed out.

– It has a greater dispersal capacity and probably increases the risk of a serious course, he said.

Solberg noted that infection has occurred in all age groups, but is increasing more in younger age groups.

– It is for these groups that we have opened the most, he said.

Measures to be introduced if infection pressure does not decrease

  • Recommendation to stay two meters away from others, except from people in your own home or close contact with single people.
  • Recommendation of a maximum of ten private contacts per week, in addition to the limit of a maximum of five guests.
  • Prohibition of drinking alcohol.
  • Prohibition of sports and leisure activities organized indoors for adults. Exceptions for the best professional athletes
  • Closing of gyms and swimming pools. Exceptions for swimming training for children and rehabilitation.
  • Closure of entertainment facilities such as amusement parks, bingo halls, and the like.
  • The employer must ensure that employees work from home in all workplaces that are practically possible.
  • Fewer participants in events:
  • Interior: 20 people with assigned fixed seats (instead of 100)
  • Interior: 50 people at funerals and burials (instead of 100)
  • Interior: 50 people in events for under 20s – only from the same municipality
  • Outdoors: 50 people at events (instead of 200 or 600 in fixed assigned seats)

If necessary, the following measures will be considered:

  • Recommendation not to have a home visit for a period of two weeks.
  • Postpone all events
  • Digital education in universities, colleges and vocational schools.
  • Middle and upper secondary schools at the red level
  • Municipalities with high infection pressure should also consider red levels in primary schools and kindergartens.

– New virus variants make it more demanding

More than 600,000 doses of vaccine have already been established.

– We see that the increase in contagion leads to hospitalizations, where the number of hospitalizations has returned to the level of January.

– New virus variants are about to dominate, and that makes it more demanding to maintain control, Solberg continued. She described the situation as fragile.

– It is essential that we manage to maintain control. We must also handle this uphill, the Prime Minister continued.

It will create three levels of action; ABC

He stated that the government has prepared three levels of action that can be quickly introduced when the need arises; action level A, B, C.

– We heard criticism that the first version of the system was too complicated.

According to Solberg, the introduction of regional measures may be relevant in those parts of the country where there is already a high level of infection, if the infection continues to increase.

– We are completely dependent on local measures to be effective if we want to avoid new and strict national measures, Solberg said.

According to information from VG, there will be no national austerity measures for children and young people. However, there may be more local measures.
