NEW YORK (Dagbladet): “It is a whole new chapter,” Cuomo said at his daily press conference on Saturday.
New York State has recorded 73 cases in which children become seriously ill with a toxic shock reaction and symptoms reminiscent of Kawasaki disease.

Three children died in New York of complications that could be related to covid-19, Cuomo said.
Three young people
On Friday, he said a five-year-old boy had died. On Saturday, he reports that two more children, a seven-year-old boy and a teenager, have lost their lives, reports The Guardian.
– The disease has killed three young New Yorkers. It’s new. This is evolving. Chances are this has been going on for several weeks and has not been diagnosed to be covid-19 related, Cuomo says.

Explains that many of the children have not had the respiratory problems often associated with covid-19, but have tested positive for the virus or antibodies.
– Painful news
According to NBC News, there are nearly 100 such cases across the United States, but most in New York.
– We think that children could be carriers of infection, but we do not think that children could suffer. This is really painful news, says Cuomo.
Doctors in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States have alarmed about a possible link between Kawasaki disease and the coronavirus.

Kawasaki disease is rare and most often affects children under the age of five. Inflammatory symptoms often include skin rash, catarrh, changes in the mucosa, swollen lymph nodes, and skin changes on the palms and soles of the feet.
The American Heart Association and director of the Kawasaki program at Boston Children’s Hospital, Jane Newburger, confirmed this week that a small group of children are developing severe symptoms related to covid-19.
– We want to assure parents that it seems weird. While Kawasaki disease can damage the heart or blood cells, heart problems usually go away after five to six weeks, and most children become completely healthy, Newburger writes in a press release.
the symptoms
As a result of the situation, New York health authorities are now asking parents to seek medical attention if their children show the following symptoms, according to NBC News:
- Fever for more than five days.
- Difficulty feeding babies or children who are too poor to drink fluids.
- Severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, or vomiting.
- Change in skin color: children turn pale, have rashes
- Problems with breathing or very fast breathing.
- Palpitations or chest pain
- Reduced urination
- Apathy, irritable, or confused.
