LATEST: At 10 o’clock, Unibuss has received feedback that the results of approx. 50 tests are ready. No one has signs of infection.

The massive stop in bus traffic across much of Bærum and Oslo on Friday morning started on Thursday night.

Then the Unibuss bus company, which operates for the public transport company Ruter, was informed that one of its employees had tested positive for COVID-19 of the rapidly spreading mutated British corona virus.

– The message came from the municipal chief of Bærum. New tests of previous positive samples from a man employed in the Furubakken administration in Bærum have revealed that the infection came from the mutated virus, says communications manager Emilie Mejlænder at Unibuss to Dagbladet.

Both Ruter and Unibuss expect more of the canceled bus routes to start again on Friday, depending on the results of the corona tests.

More than two weeks ago

The positive test from the Unibuss employee came two weeks ago.

– He immediately isolated himself, was healthy again and went back to work, says Mejlænder.

Both school and work trips are affected on Friday morning

The approximately 250 employees based in Furubakken will be tested at the test center in Fornebu, which opens at 08.30.

This applies to drivers, employees in the workshop and administration and others.

Quick test response comes after approx. 20 minutes, Unibuss has been informed.

Not only drivers need to recover

– We still cannot say with certainty when the buses will start again. In addition to drivers with negative tests, other employees connected to each of the 10 bus lines must also be authorized by the health service, says communications manager Emilie Mejlænder.

– Will there be tests of passengers who have traveled with the established routes?

– Health authorities must respond to that. We handle the situation of our employees under the guidance of the municipal chief doctor, says the communications manager.
