There are now 89 people at Finnmark Hospital who have been quarantined, while 68 people in Hammerfest Township are under quarantine.
In all, more than 200 people have had coronation tests in the last week. There have been more than 100 negative test results. Everyone who took the test on Friday and Saturday has received a response.
The corona pandemic has hit Hammerfest Township in full force. Two new cases of corona have been detected in the last 24 hours. The two new people who have been confirmed infected in the last 24 hours are registered in the municipality of Hammerfest and Porsanger.
A total of 17 people have been infected with corona, of which 12 are linked to Hammerfest Hospital.
The rest are waiter and partner of this person, and three patients. Also, there is an infection in Trondheim that is related to the outbreak. The person was at the Brygga eating house in Hammerfest on October 8 and took the plane home on October 11. The plane the person was traveling in was tracked by FHI.
– No one should feel ashamed
But the municipal management is clear that the inhabitants should not feel ashamed.
– It is no one’s fault that we are in the situation we are in now. We must not distribute blame and shame, says Hammerfest municipal chief physician Sonni Schumacher
The municipal superintendent ensures that the municipality does its part, imposing quarantine and isolation. But they also expect citizens to take responsibility.
– What we must do is have as few close contacts as possible. You have to have good hygiene, now it is very important, says Schumacher.
The situation is not under control
– The situation is confusing, said the clinic’s manager, Jonas Valle Paulsen, on Sunday afternoon.
According to him, the hospital is in a vulnerable situation. Therefore, they have to eliminate much of the activity. Those with weekly hours will have hours postponed or moved to Alta or Karasjok clinics.
The hospital will still be able to receive patients who need emergency care. In addition, they will receive children and mothers, and will continue with cancer treatment and other treatments that cannot wait.
Attend Finnmark Hospital
All Hammerfest Hospital employees will be evaluated after the corona outbreak. In the first instance, close contacts and employees in the same department are tested as at least two proven cases. Then the health personnel and finally the administrative and technical personnel are tested.
As previously known, Helse Nord dispatches health personnel from across the region to assist in Hammerfest. Those attending are employees of the Helgeland Hospital, Nordland Hospital and UNN in Tromsø.
