Corona infection in Kongsvinger prison – 44 prisoners quarantined

– At the Kriminalomsorgen Innlandet location in Vardåsen in Kongsvinger, an inmate was detected on Friday, October 9, Kriminalomsorgen writes in a press release on Saturday.

– The inmate was quarantined immediately after consulting with the prison doctor and tests were carried out on the inmate. The test result was available on Friday and was positive for covid-19, it is said.

The inmate has mild symptoms.

Measures implemented

44 prisoners have been quarantined as of October 18. Employees who have been in close contact with the inmate have also been quarantined.

– From now on, there are five employees, indicated in the press release.

Kriminalomsorgen Innlandet has implemented a series of measures to reduce the risk of new infections and, in collaboration with the health service, the detection of infections has started. The management has appointed staff to manage the measures and have an overview of the situation.

Oslo Prison and Ila Prison

Corona infection has also been detected in Norwegian prisons in the past.

In September, an Oslo prison employee was diagnosed with a corona infection. As a result, 18 prisoners and six employees were quarantined.

In August, an employee of the Ila prison in Bærum tested positive for the coronavirus. A total of three employees and eleven inmates were quarantined after testing positive.
