According to the newspaper, the agents have collaborated in the work of protecting the president and the White House.

The newspaper refers to anonymous sources who say the agents have tested positive or have been in close contact with those infected. Most of the cases will be related to election campaign activities that President Trump participated in in the weeks leading up to the election.

Participated in election campaign meetings

According to the NRK, Trump was at five election rallies in various states in the last two days before the election. On November 2 alone, there were five different groups of Secret Service agents working to protect the president. Among other things, they had to keep an eye on the public and make sure the area was secured.

Each of the groups must have been at least 20 people and have attended events in the states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. The president has received much criticism for the lack of infection control at these meetings.

About 10 percent of the Secret Service core team, the security service of the president of the United States, is affected by the outbreak. Sources tell the Washington Post that the infection likely originated from election rallies Trump held before the election.

Back in public

Trump has become increasingly quietly ignored in the American media after the electoral defeat. At the same time, from the White House he has tweeted day and night a series of allegations of electoral fraud, without receiving the attention to which he is accustomed.

On Friday, however, he reappears, at a meeting at the White House on the progress of the vaccine. The meeting is the first on the president’s public calendar this week.

On Wednesday, Veterans Day, the president attended a wreath ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.
