All three were arrested on Wednesday and charged by the police, Økokrim writes in a press release.

Ecocrime investigates alleged crimes that were discovered during the bankruptcy process of a hotel group.

All three have been in prison meetings today at the Oslo District Court, but the court has yet to make a decision. Ecocrime requests that the conservative politician be jailed for a week.

– He asks to be released, and this is a man with many business connections and much that he should fix now that he cannot do if the prison sentence is taken into account, says defender of the conservative politician Thomas Frøberg.

According to the defender, the client has fully cooperated with the police from the moment it was explained. He believes he has done nothing wrong, according to the defender.

– What did he explain to you?

– At this time, I do not intend to go into details, but in summary, he believes that he has participated in a commercially justified transaction and has had no intention of supporting any illegal action, says Frøberg.

In connection with the arrests, searches were carried out in various locations in eastern Norway and western Norway, Økokrim states.

There may be more arrests

– Bankruptcy crime is a social problem that, among other things, affects creditors and weakens trust in the business community, and is especially serious if the finances of a company that is in a vulnerable financial situation are unfairly lost. The investigation will now clarify whether something criminal has happened, says Attorney General Bård Thorsen.

The investigation is in an early stage and Økokrim does not rule out further arrests in the case.
