Conor McGregor (32) again has problems with the police. This time on the French island of Corsica.
– Following a Sept. 10 review alleging acts that could only be described as attempted sexual assault and exposure, Conor Anthony McGregor was brought in for questioning by police, tax authorities write. in a statement to AFP.
The 32-year-old knows he is innocent.
– Conor McGregor flatly denies all allegations of inappropriate behavior. He has been questioned and released, a spokesperson for the MMA fighter told TMZ.
McGregor has spent the last few days on the island, where footage of a better-trained MMA fighter has sparked speculation about whether he is preparing for a new fight, despite announcing in June that his career was over.
He’s done it before, but he’s back. In January of this year, he won against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, after retiring in March of last year.
According to Le Figaro, McGregor was on vacation in Balagne, near the town of Calvi on the northern tip of the island.
In trouble
McGregor was scheduled to participate in a 180-kilometer pedal boat race with Princess Charlene of Monaco, but was absent when the race began on Saturday.
This is not the first time McGregor has been taken by the long arm of the law.
In 2018, the Irishman was sentenced to anger therapy, community service and to pay compensation after attacking and damaging a bus carrying MMA athletes.
In March of the following year, he was arrested after smashing the phone of someone who was trying to photograph him. He was fined for that. Just weeks later, it emerged that Irish police were investigating the fighter after a woman accused him of sexual assault.
However, the latest news about McGregor was more pleasant. In August, he got engaged to his Dee Devlin (33). He has been on vacation in France.
Big star
Conor McGregor is probably the biggest star in UFC history, at least among those who don’t follow the sport closely. Partly because of the scandals, but also because of his sporting success.
He has held title belts in both spring and lightweight, and is the only athlete to have won by knockout in both divisions + welterweight.
McGregor also tried undefeated boxing star Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring, but lost the lucrative meeting in August 2017 by technical knockout.
He still took home $ 130 million ($ 1.1 billion at today’s exchange rate) in revenue from the “Fight for Money” party.
