– We confirm that a deceased person has been discovered and that he is the man who has been searched in Verdal, says the director of operations in the Trøndelag police district, Ole Petter Hollingen to NRK.
Reported missing on Saturday
The search for the man in his 30s began around midnight on Saturday. The search took place in the Bringsåsen area in Vera in Verdal.
– It was found a good distance northwest of where it had disappeared and where the search started.
Many have participated in the search for the man since Saturday night, says the operations manager.
– I don’t have an overview of how many people have helped, but there are many volunteers who have participated and have made a unique effort.
Found by Sea King
On Monday night, a dog patrol conducted a search when there were no people in the area. Today they went through several cabins in the hope that the missing person had settled in one of them.
A Sea King rescue helicopter was put into the search on Sunday and can also be used on Monday.
On Monday night, the helicopter found the man in the open air.
– An autopsy is performed on the deceased. Otherwise, they are ending the search with everyone involved in the area. The most important thing now is taking care of family members, Hollingen says.
Reported missing by friends

People from the Civil Defense, Norwegian rescue dogs and the Red Cross, police and firefighters were on the scene to help find the man. The Civil Defense attended with 20 people.
