ASKER / OSLO (Dagbladet): Today was the turn of Prince Sverre Magnus (14) to be confirmed. In other words, it’s a great day for the royal family.

As a result of the crown pandemic, the prince was only able to bring 16 guests to the church.

The parents, Crown Prince Haakon (47) and Crown Princess Mette-Marit (47), were of course present to consider that the son “enters the ranks of adults”, along with the prince’s older sister, the Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

Reduced guest list

Queen Sonja (83) and King Harald (83) were also described as guests.

In addition, Mette-Marit’s son, Marius Borg Høiby (23), and his girlfriend, Juliane Snekkestad, were present at the church, along with Princess Märtha Louise and her daughter Leah Isadora.

Prince Sverre Magnus’s grandmother, Marit Tjessem, also had a place in the church, as well as uncles and aunts from the other side of the family.

Among them was one of the prince’s patrons, Espen Høiby (61). Bjørn Stensland and Marianne Gjellestad are also sponsors, so they were on the exclusive guest list.

Join a united troop

Shortly before four o’clock approached, the royal family arrived at the Asker Church, where they were received by the Bishop of the Diocese of Oslo, Kari Veiteberg (59).

Princess Märtha Louise, however, arrived at church on crutches with her daughter, Leah Isadora.

Earlier this week, it emerged that the background to the princess’s crutches is that she had a misalignment. This was stated by Märtha Louise’s manager, Carina Scheele, to Dagbladet.

Seeing and hearing expert Caroline Vagle was present outside the Asker church and was able to tell that the royal family arrived in a united troop after all the other guests had been seated.

– As the royal couple were led to the door, the family of the Crown Prince and Princess Märtha Louise and their daughter Leah Isadora came walking from the door. Märtha on crutches, as she did last weekend at her daughter’s confirmation, continued.

– The ladies were all dressed in beautiful national costumes on the big day, while the men, including the confirming, were wearing suits, Vagle said.

In addition, Vagle said that Princess Ingrid Alexandra and her cousin, Leah Isadora, used the bunads that they themselves received as a confirmation gift from the royal couple.

– It is not known if the prince also receives a bunad from them, but the queen has previously said that all grandchildren who want a bunad, get it from them, he added.

According to Vagle, the royal family were in a bright mood and clearly looking forward to the big day.

– In general, the family has had a close relationship with the church and Christian tradition, and often connects the church with its own celebrations, such as birthdays and anniversaries, he said, adding:

– When we abolished the state church in Norway, it was actually the king’s own wish that it be established in the constitution that the monarch should profess the Evangelical Lutheran faith.

Clearly touched

Prince Sverre Magnus approached walking with nine other confirmants down the aisle of the church.

The church was packed with guests who enthusiastically followed him during the confirmation service. Mette-Marit was one of those who was clearly moved by the fact that her son was confirmed.

– Welcome everyone. We are gathered for a party, for confirmation, said the parish priest Karoline Astrup in the church of Asker.

During the confirmation service, a steadfast prince, Sverre Magnus, came up to the altar to be confirmed.

– Prince Sverre Magnus, faithful god, we thank you for Magnus. Give him strength to face life’s challenges. Let Magnus know of your closeness and make him trust that nothing can separate him from your love, said Parish Priest Karoline Astrup.

The confirmation service is over, and the confirmands each receive a rose before leaving the church.

Outside the church, Mette-Marit finally gives her son a long-awaited hug, before he, his parents, and his older sister Ingrid Alexandra leave the church and head for the car.

After the confirmation service, Prince Sverre Magnus and his guests will gather for a small private party at their home in Skaugum.
