At the same time, he says the vaccine is probably good, according to Reuters.

An American study of the AstraZeneca vaccine was published on Monday. It gave promising results and showed that the vaccine is 79 percent effective against symptomatic coronary heart disease and provides 100 percent protection against serious disease.

However, in hindsight, several health leaders in the United States have questioned the study’s independence and believe it is based on outdated information, according to the New York Times.

In a press release Tuesday night, the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) writes that the independent panel of medical experts that in the so-called US Safety and Data Monitoring Board. The US (DSMB) have announced that they were concerned about the information AstraZeneca had obtained about their data on Monday morning.

They believe AstraZeneca may have provided outdated data, which may have given an incomplete picture of the effectiveness of the corona vaccine.

In a press release on Tuesday, AstraZeneca writes that what they mentioned on Monday was preliminary analysis with data collected through February 17. They also write that the updated analyzes that will be reviewed by the FDA coincide with this preliminary data.

– When it comes to this that has been published by the US health authorities, we can only hope that it will be clarified as soon as possible so that all the uncertainty about the results is clarified, says Steinar Madsen from the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

He says that the Norwegian Medicines Agency today has no more information than that published by the US health authorities.

– Now it would have been nice with a first-class study with high precision and reliable results. When such a question arises, we hope it will be cleared up quickly.
