1. Introduction
On Saturday, October 31, 2020, it was two years since Anne-Elisabeth Hagen disappeared from her home at Sloraveien 4 in Lørenskog. In this sense, there has naturally been a great demand from the media with questions about my clients’ comments on the matter.
It goes without saying that the situation is very demanding for my clients and their families, so we have prepared this letter on the occasion of this day, in order to try to answer some of the questions we have received.
Initially, it should be noted that my clients have experienced that the media focus has been enormous. However, attention has not gradually turned to Anne-Elisabeth Hagen and what has happened to her, and where she can be found. The focus was on the fact that this is a murder committed at Sloraveien 4’s house, and where my clients’ father, Tom Hagen, and an unknown number of perpetrators have been behind it. The background to this appears to be the alleged main hypothesis of the police, and persistent leaks that largely cannot come from anywhere other than the police. This has turned this case into a media circus. A media circus where the victim Anne-Elisabeth Hagen has disappeared, literally and figuratively.
My clients largely want to take the opportunity to highlight the mother and the fact that we are objectively facing a disappearance. Just because the police believe it is murder does not make it correct. The objective findings in Sloraveien 4 of October 31, 2018 indicate, in my opinion, with a much higher probability that it is a kidnapping.
2. The two years that have passed
My three clients are Anne-Elisabeth Hagen’s two daughters and son – Lisbeth – or “Mimmi” as they call her. My clients have spouses / partners and children, grandchildren of Lisbeth, whom Lisbeth adored.
All of them have been living in a cruel situation for two years. First the shock of October 31, 2018, then the uncertainty and despair. As the situation has persisted, it has only gotten worse and worse for them. The dark cloud hangs over them at all times, at work and play, weekdays and holidays, and even when they manage to enjoy something.
Mimmi is the heart and center of the family, a source of warmth for all. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Mimmi has always stood up for everyone. She is the one who comforts, carries and cares for everyone who is on the way.
The family misses the daily phone calls, the many good conversations, the reunions, the mother and grandmother, the big things and the little things. They miss everything!
The whole family has been greatly affected by this cruel act and the consequences are many. At the same time, they are still hopeful that they will find Lisbeth and that they will get an answer to what happened to her. The hope that Mimmi is still alive may slowly fade, but they are allowed, and allowed, to have hope.
In the midst of this terrible situation, they experience that many care about them and are very grateful for it. There are many who know the family who live the situation as unreal as they.
3. The accusation against the father
The fact that the police arrested and charged Tom Hagen on April 28, 2020 after a year and a half indicates that they have spent a lot of resources in pursuing him. My clients understand that it is both correct and necessary with an investigation also directed to those closest to them in such a case.
However, my clients with their knowledge and experience of both Tom and Lisbeth are convinced that Tom is not behind the crime.
The situation became much worse, and completely absurd, when the children and grandchildren, on the very day of the arrest, received videos of a completely unnecessarily brutal arrest of a 70-year-old man on his way to the office, carried out by the team of emergency, fully armed. The pictures say more than a thousand words.
The three children perceive the accusation against Tom as a side way, they know that he is innocent. They have known it all along. However, this is not the time to elaborate on this, now they want to focus on Mimmi.
4. Ongoing investigation and desire for further investigation
As explained above, my clients right now want to focus on Mimmi to find her, and to a lesser extent focus on the charges against the father, the mistakes the police have made, etc. However, so many questions have arisen in this regard that it is necessary in brief, and in short, to explain our views on it.
When this happened, total chaos prevailed with both the police and the family. This was new. Something similar had not happened before.
From the point of view of my clients, it has been difficult to understand, among other things:
- Why didn’t the police order a red BMW in Ås immediately? My clients only found out about this witness when Åsted Norway made a report with her a year and a half later.
- Why didn’t they ever order cars? One that has been observed by a witness and two that have just been heard that have been taken on camera. The observation was made near Sloraveien around a time when Lisbeth is known to have stopped answering phones.
My clients don’t know what the police have done. They don’t sit on answers, just on many questions. They don’t know how the police have prioritized and what decisions they have made along the way, but there may come a day when this whole case is evaluated.
However, it is a fact that time has passed and they fear that much has been lost.
My clients have been repeatedly questioned by the police. They have no further information that can help shed new light on the disappearance and who abducted his mother. Furthermore, there is the fact that in their last and very extensive interrogation in August 2019, they reacted strongly to police behavior and interrogation methods. This has also been expressed in a letter written by one of the children that has previously been published in various newspapers. I react to the questioning form and the strong accusations and insinuations from the police about it. I understand my clients’ experience that this was very stressful, in an otherwise very difficult situation in which their mother had disappeared without a trace for almost a year.
It is in the above context that the undersigned, as a lawyer for the legal assistance of minors, has informed you that at the present time it does not seem opportune to have new interrogations. This is based on my knowledge of the case. In my opinion, the new interrogations will only apply to subjects that my clients have repeatedly and fully explained, and I do not see that this helps to clarify the case. However, I can confirm that we have a dialogue with the police, and I would like to emphasize that if we can contribute to clarifying the case, we will of course cooperate with the police in this regard.
5. Final remarks
My clients are still hopeful that the case will be solved in the end. Either because new technology can help provide answers or because you can find it.
They have also not given up hope that those behind this, the other party that took it, left a letter, communicated in cryptocurrency and sent emails, have a human side and choose to finish what they have started in a way. as dignified as possible. Someone is sitting with the answers that we are all looking for.
