As a result of strict infection control measures, Corlor Liner has decided to discontinue MS Color Magic between Oslo and Kiel until further notice. This is stated by the company in a press release.

– New national infection control measures that the government introduced today, January 4, mean that the company must cancel the current bid between Norway and Germany, says CEO Trond Kleivdal on Color Line.

Layoffs

With the exception of parts of the cargo business, all revenue is actually lost as a result of the canceled ships, the company says.

– Therefore, Color Line is unfortunately forced to announce layoffs of nearly 500 other employees in addition to the around 1000 who have already been laid off, says CEO Trond Kleivdal.

It says the layoffs may be lifted on short notice when authorities allow passenger traffic between Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany again.

– To ensure future profitability, preliminary analyzes show the need to reduce costs by approx. NOK 300 million (estimated effect for the whole year NOK 250 million in 2021). This will lead to a reduction in the number of employees both on board and ashore by approx. 300 man-years. In addition, steps will be taken to reduce other operating costs, among other things, using the significant investments in new technology that Color Line has made in recent years, the company wrote in a stock exchange statement.
