– Dress well, check online for the roads you are going to travel on, says Operations Manager Remi Johansen in the Nordland Police District.

– Should one stay inside today?

– Yes, feel free to do so.

The storm is ravaging much of northern Norway.

On E6 Finnmark, it is closed at Langfjordbotn until tomorrow due to the risk of avalanches. A little further south, the E6 over Kvænangsfjellet is also closed.

Strong winds also affect traffic in Nordland.

– In Nordland, there is a lot of wind and poor driving conditions with several roads closed, says traffic operator Håvard Langmo at the Road Traffic Center for Northern Norway.

The E10 over Bjørnfjell is closed, while there is a column on E6 over Saltfjellet.

In Helgeland, the E6 has been closed at Mjåvatnet. The road is now open, but the Norwegian Public Roads Administration warns of difficult driving conditions due to heavy snow.

Helgelandsbrua, Saltstraumbrua and Åselibrua on Provincial Highway 17 are also closed for periods due to wind.

There is also a strong wind at Hålogalandsbrua on the E6 near Narvik, which may also be closed.

Widerøe reports that the planes were grounded at Bodø as the storm continued.

Strong wind in Bodø

In Bodø, Berthold Hinrichs’ sailing ship became known in the wind.

– It’s been worse in the past. As long as the tie is in place, things are going well, says Berthold Hinrichs.

The sailboat is moored in the Kløkstad marina, north of Bodø.

– He’s in the worst place. The east wind comes down from the mountains and gathers in my boat.

Berthold Hinrichs filmed when the strong wind hit the Kløkstad Marina in Bodø.

They can be very slippery roads

Yesterday the freezing rain created big problems on Trøndelag’s roads. Today the weather has moved north to Helgeland and meteorologists have issued a warning.

Until evening, local ice hazard is expected in the outer Helgeland and Salten areas due to freezing rain on the ground.

– We are following Helgeland and the contractors are on hold. Rain that freezes on the ground is difficult to handle. It can freeze on the sand it is sprayed with, says Langmo in Vegtrafikksentralen

At 11 o’clock, three cars were involved in a traffic accident on the former E6 at Helgeland Folkehøyskole in Mosjøen.

No one was injured, police said. It is slippery and windy on site.
