The Norwegian Food Safety Authority sent a notification on China’s new requirements on Friday. The rules tightening the requirements will actually apply from January 1, but the Norwegian Food Safety Authority writes that they already have the impression that the Chinese authorities require the entire production chain to be listed for export and have called for a clarification to the country’s authorities.

Cautions against exporting seafood from non-listed suppliers.

– It is very important for exporters to maintain a close dialogue with their client / importer in China if they decide to export to China now. It may be risky starting today to export seafood from fishing boats, freighters and independent warehouses that are not registered in China, writes the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

In September, Chinese customs authorities issued new requirements for seafood to protect the country against new corona infections transmitted through raw food.

According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, Norway has exported NOK 3.6 billion seafood products to China so far this year, a decrease of NOK 4.74 billion over the same period last year. The country is the 10th largest export market for Norwegian seafood.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
