Children reject claims about Anne-Elisabeth Hagen

Her husband Tom Hagen (70) has been charged since April with murder or complicity in the murder of his own wife.

The police believe, as TV 2 understands it, that conflicts in the marriage and a possible divorce with the consequent financial loss are the billionaire’s motives.

The reason is a 1993 marriage covenant, multi-year separation papers, notes from both spouses, wedding and birthday cards written to each other, as well as divorce related Google searches.

Hagen himself has denied in questioning that divorce was ever seriously discussed.

The children have also never heard of the parents talking about leaving the other, according to their assistant attorney Ståle Kihle.

Reduced ransom claim by NOK 40 million

– My clients are convinced that if this had been a real issue for the couple, it would have been made known to them. In the Hagen family, there is a lot of openness, even on difficult subjects. Divorce was also never a topic in very intimate conversations between mother and daughter, Kihle tells TV 2.

I don’t understand witnesses

NRK has written that friends of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, with whom she has been associated for many years, went to the police when they learned of the abduction. They believed Tom Hagen had something to do with the case, partly due to marital problems.

According to VG, the same witnesses believe that Anne-Elisabeth Hagen appeared desperate a few weeks before the disappearance. The reason must have been that he had a difficult time in the marriage.

I received help from the British special police months before the arrest.

The children, who are convinced of the innocence of their father, do not understand the statements of the witnesses.

– They are not recognized at all. On the contrary, Lisbeth (her mother’s nickname, editor’s note) was very happy, in part because she had gotten the puppy “Tassen,” says Kihle.

– Hard times

During cross-examination, witnesses have been asked various questions about marital disputes dating back to the 1990s.

Tom Hagen on NRK’s wife: – A fantastic person

The child welfare attorney says there have been tough times for the family, but:

– There was also frankness about this. Together they got through this difficult period, says Kihle.

He believes that the police are far from being able to corroborate the motive for Tom Hagen’s murder, and that the police in no way can link the billionaire to the disappearance of his wife.

– The alleged main hypothesis of the police is that Lisbeth was murdered and that the murder took place in Sloraveien 4. I do not see that this is in any way probable. On the contrary, it is more likely that she was kidnapped. Tom Hagen cannot be related in any way to the disappearance. He was certainly not on Sloraveien 4 when Lisbeth disappeared, and after more than two years of intense investigation, where all police methods have been used, he can in no way be linked to perpetrators who are acting, Kihle says.

He has mapped 122 locations in the hunt.

Police: No comment

Kihle believes that the basis of suspicions against Tom Hagen has always been weak.

– And it has weakened significantly since the unnecessarily brutal arrest, he says.

The Eastern Police District has not responded to TV 2’s investigation into Kihle’s remarks on Friday afternoon.

The status of the investigation is that the police uphold the murder charge against Tom Hagen. Among other things, they are working to review technical findings and seizures that were made in the post-arrest period.

– We do not want to comment on the basis of suspicions continuously beyond that we still believe there is a good reason to suspect murder or complicity in the murder, wrote Police Inspector Agnes Beate Hemiø to TV 2 earlier this week.
