He became a frantic guard for the Western Police District on Christmas Eve and the night before Christmas Day.

Many of the cases have been for violence and intoxication in the home with families, says Operations Manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen in the West Police District.

– We started working at 23. And after that he got into one with several cases of this type, says Dahl-Michelsen

During the night, three children called the police to report that things were bad at home. They themselves were not physically injured, but witnessed violence and intoxication in the home.

Police moved to at least nine cases of domestic violence in and around Bergen during the afternoon and evening.

– It’s sad. I think it is surprising that there were so many such cases the night before Christmas Day, says Dahl-Michelsen.

Three people are now in police custody due to cases of domestic violence. These will be investigated. But police say they will also follow up on more cases than these after tonight’s incidents.
