Child benefit increases by NOK 300 per month

Every person with children under the age of six can enjoy an increase in the child benefit from 1 September 2020. The aid is then increased by 300 crowns, from 1054 to 1354 crowns per month for each child under this age, that is, by almost 30 percent.

Over the course of one year, this corresponds to an increase in the child benefit of NOK 3,600.

Singles are also on the rise

For single parent families, there will also be some increase in the support plan starting on September 1.

They receive NOK 1,054 as extended family benefit (up from NOK 970 previously).

The toddler supplement for singles, on the other hand, remains unchanged at DKK 660.

You won’t get a new letter about the changes, whether you’re a parent with a partner or a single, Nav says.

Not everyone will get the raise in September

You receive child benefit up to the month prior to age six inclusive. You will receive a new letter from Nav when the child benefit is reduced.

Most people will receive child benefit at the new rate in September, but if you do not receive the supplement in September, it will be delayed during October.

You can find the child benefit rates on the Nav website.
