A 13-year-old boy died in Ullevål hospital on Friday afternoon from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Oslo Police District announces this in a press release.

Family members of the boy were notified of the accident Thursday night.

The driver who drove the 13-year-old at Maia Dehlisvei in Haugenstua drove away after the incident and great resources were put in to find him.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was found and arrested Friday night.

– Danger of recurrence

The stopped driver of a dark Mitsubishi SUV has admitted in the interrogation to having driven on the pedestrian and is currently charged with the Road Traffic Law § 31, cf. § 12.

According to § 12, all people involved in a road accident are obliged to stop immediately and help the people who were injured in the road accident.

Police warn that the charge will be extended.

The man will also be released into custody.

– We are investigating you for several previous issues related to intoxication and trafficking, and these are cases that are relatively recent, and we believe there is a danger that it will happen again, says Rune Skjold, section chief for finance and special legislation at Oslo Police District to TV 2.

Accident

Forensic investigations were carried out at the scene Thursday night. The information from the witnesses then indicated that the car had had a great speed and that the boy must have been thrown into the air after being hit, before he collided with another car.

– There is nothing to indicate that this is something that was done on purpose, and it appears that the child is a random victim, says Skjold.

Skjold does not know that the defendant has hurt anyone before.
