Center Party, Taxes | The Center Party will increase the tax on 664,000 Norwegians

– The Center Party shows its true face, believes Frp.

When the Center Party presented its alternative state budget for 2021 on Thursday, it boasted that they cut taxes and fees for most people.

“In our alternative state budget, we propose to reduce the tax for the average worker by approx. 2400 crowns. With our plan, everyone who earns less than 750,000 crowns will receive a tax break »it says in the party’s budget proposal.

But at the same time, those who earn more than 750,000 crowns must pay more taxes. This means that up to 664,000 Norwegians will receive a tax increase under the Center Party’s tax scheme, compared to the government’s state budget for next year.

A tax increase that infuriates the Progress Party.

– The Center Party shows its true face when they give with one hand and take with the other. That the Center Party wants to send a tax bill increase to several hundred thousand Norwegians is not something that makes us happy at Frp, Frp’s fiscal policy spokesman Sivert Bjørnstad tells Nettavisen.

More than 100,000 crowns

With the tax proposal of the Center Party, those who earn between 750,000 and 999,999 crowns, a total of 366,057 Norwegians, will receive a tax bill increase of 1,240 crowns per year.

While 257,282 people who earn between 1 and 2 million crowns, receive an increased income tax of 12,863 crowns. For those with income up to NOK 3 million, the tax increases by NOK 34,323. And those who earn more than 3 million, about 15,000 people, have to pay 123,464 crowns more than what is proposed in the state government budget for 2021.

In the tax proposal, at the same time, those who earn between 600,000 and 749,999 crowns, a total of 539,300 Norwegians, will receive an annual tax allowance of 2396 crowns. Those who earn between 500,000 and 599,999 crowns, where that is the average Norwegian income, will receive relief of 2203 crowns. This affects 546,993 people.

Here you can check how the proposal affects yourself:

– Puts jobs at risk

At the same time, the Center Party is proposing tax cuts totaling NOK 9.1 billion compared to the government’s budget proposal, and will cover this, among other things, by collecting an additional NOK 3.6 billion in wealth taxes.

– In addition to the increase in personal taxes, the Center Party sends a large additional bill to Norwegian owners of small and medium-sized businesses. Wealth tax must be paid regardless of whether the company makes a profit or loss, and only Norwegian owners pay, while foreign owners don’t, Bjørnstad says, noting:

– The Center Party movement will make it more attractive to Chinese or German owners, at the expense of local Norwegian property. This can put jobs in Norway at risk.

It emphasizes that the goal of Frp is to provide taxes and tax breaks to everyone in Norway.

– But, can you grant tax and tariff relief to all?

– We haven’t introduced stricter taxes or fees, so everyone will be better off. We have prioritized tax breaks that benefit everyone, whether they earn a little or a lot. In addition, we have reduced the wealth tax, so that fewer pensioners will pay this tax, and the disadvantage for Norwegian owners compared to foreigners will be significantly less, says Bjørnstad.

The Center Party: – FRP gets tall and dark

However, the Center Party fought back against the criticism.

– Our budget means that ordinary workers, retirees and other low and middle income people, a total of more than 3.5 million Norwegians, will receive significantly reduced taxes, in addition to many billions in tax cuts on, among others things, food, drinks, electricity, gasoline and diesel. Center Party fiscal policy spokesman Sigbjørn Gjelsvik tells Nettavisen.

-I register that Frp is more concerned about the approximately 15 percent who have the highest income and wealth and that with our scheme they must contribute something more to the community, he says.

He believes that the FRP itself has a great job to do after raising taxes when they were in government.

– FRP is making a fuss in the media for wanting to cut record rates in Norway. There they have a great job to do, after the FRP in government with Siv Jensen as Finance Minister increased taxes by more than 6 billion crowns, says Gjelsvik, adding:

– The Center Party has proposed specific tax cuts of NOK 9.1 billion next year. Then we will see what will be the outcome of the chaotic budget negotiations between the Conservatives, the Liberals, the Liberals and the Christian Democrats.
