In August, TV 2 high-profile sportscaster Kasper Wikestad received the heavy message that he had bowel and kidney cancer.
When Wikestad underwent surgery for acute appendicitis, doctors discovered the cancer.
It was the start of a long hospital stay for Wikestad, and she had to undergo four operations, among other things.
– A very difficult moment
The 45-year-old’s goal was always to comment on a match before Christmas, and on December 15, Wikestad reappeared when he commented on the Premier League match between Manchester City and West Bromwich.
Wikestad tells Dagbladet that it was nice to have a goal, but that he doubted it would be realistic to go back to work after four months.
– It has been a very, very hard time, you can’t hide. When the complications came, it went from really difficult to incredibly difficult. I was so depressed that you get both mentally and physically, Wikestad tells the newspaper.
– You always have to push a little
When asked if they are afraid of making a fuss, Wikestad answers the following:
– I’m excited, I’ll probably have to spend a little more time recovering. But you always have to push yourself a bit in this life, and I think I have quite a bit of control over how much I can tolerate, says the Dagbladet commentator.
Wikestad has commented on the Premier League for TV 2 since the channel took over the rights granted in 2010.
