The case is being updated.
As a result of the diagnosis of a Levanger Hospital employee with coronary heart disease, the hospital’s Clinic for Women, Children and Families has been affected, says Helse Nord-Trøndelag.
The employee who has been diagnosed with the infection is in isolation, while six colleagues are in quarantine due to close contact with the infected person, according to the health authority.
Cancel the scheduled treatment
The gynecology department has canceled the elective treatment until further notice, according to the health authority. The clinic emphasizes that immediate help is provided in the usual way.
– Elective treatment is what in hospitals we call planned treatment. Anything that is not of immediate help. For example, if you are summoned for a planned outpatient exam, says communications manager Svein H. Karlsen at Helse Nord-Trøndelag.
He claims that there is a mix of doctors and nurses who have been quarantined. Karlsen says the planned treatment in the gynecology department was canceled on Thursday and Friday. A new evaluation will take place on Monday during the first two days of the week.

You must complete the quarantine
Karlsen says fewer than 20 patients are affected by the canceled treatment so far.
– Health professionals must also complete their quarantine period. Further tests will be conducted as the quarantine period draws to a close. If no new infection is detected, we return to normal function during the week, says Karlsen.
Helse Nord-Trøndelag states that Levanger Hospital has two patients admitted with a proven infection and receiving treatment in bed. There are no hospitalized patients with proven infection at Namsos Hospital.
Employees who were quarantined after an infection situation in Namsos and Overhalla last weekend have ended the quarantine period and have been tested with a negative response, according to Helse Nord-Trøndelag.

Strict infection control
According to Helse Nord-Trøndelag, the maternity ward at Levanger Hospital receives a series of questions about the ward’s closure. It is in normal operation, they claim.
Restrictions have been reintroduced when it comes to chaperones for routine ultrasound exams. This applies to both Levanger Hospital and Namsos Hospital. These are the same infection control measures as at the beginning of this year. This means that, at the moment, pregnant women cannot bring their parents or others during the exams. The goal is to protect patients and healthcare personnel, according to Helse Nord-Trøndelag.
The measures are being introduced on the basis of a stricter infection control regime now that the corona pandemic has a disturbing development, the Health Trust writes in the press release.
